Tornado Strikes Viroqua--1865By borges, Section Historical Perspectives
It was 144 years ago tomorrow, July 29, 1865 that a tornado hit Viroqua in Vernon County Wisconsin and tore the community apart physically as well as one can imagine to the core of the village's social family.
The details of the storm are contained in the news article from that time in the copy below (via Scribd.) At the end is an open letter calling for contributions, and describing the committee who will handle the money...names like Rusk and Terhune.
