The first performance of the newly established Viroqua Community Theater Group, "South Pacific", debuts this weekend! This is not your ordinary musical. Set in the Pacific Islands during WWII, it challenged many comfort zones for people at the time it first debuted in 1949. The issue of racial prejudice is sensitively and candidly explored, along with the sacrifices and tragedies of war. SHOWTIMES @ The Temple Theater:

So come see your friends and neighbors in their debut! Yours truly (Erin) plays lead Bloody Mary, a native woman who runs the workings of the islands in the best way she can with the war and navy overtaking her homeland. Colin Crockett plays lead Luther Billis, a rowdy sailor with a heart of gold and mind for mischief- he's hilarious! Jackie Kolenko not only plays a lead of Liat, my daughter, but she also has a chorus role AND is choreographing! Not to mention the amazing orchestra with local musicians like Tom & Christina Guillion & Cathy Parrish, all the other talented professionals you know who will be bringing this story to life~
