Festival 1905 is being held in Readstown on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 2 PM in Bliss Memorial Park!
FESTIVAL 1905 is "a celebration of turn of the century Readstown"
Sunday, June 8, 2008; 2:00 P.M. Featuring Music by the Viroqua Men's Chorus, Raymond Firebaugh-child violinist, and Raymond Hadley of Readstown. They will perform songs of the turn of the century era. There will also be recitation of poetry of Carl Sandburg, "Chicago", poems by Robert Service, and Vachel Lindsay's "General William Booth Enters into Heaven" with the requisite bass drum, banjo, flute and tambourine accompaniment, all recited by poet Will Kilkeary. Turn of the century fashions will be exhibited and worn. A slide show of bandstand photos along with 1905 era events, personalities, paintings will be on shown. Lemonade and ice cream will be served. Sponsored as a fund raiser for the bandstand restoration by the Readstown Area Historical Society, a 501 c3 non profit corporation.
