La Crosse Afghanistan Mine-removal Project (LAMP) FundraiserBy borges, Section War and Peace
The La Crosse Afghanistan Mine-removal Project (LAMP) will hold their annual fundraising Night of 1000 Dinners Afghan feast on Saturday, March 29, 6-8 PM, at the English Lutheran Church, 1509 King St., La Crosse. After dinner, John Knight, a local educator with experience in assisting the Afghan school systems, and an Afghan exchange student, Jala Ahmad Sarvary, will each speak. LAMP has been
collecting funds and forwarding to the UNA Adopt-A-Minefield program for landmine removal in Afghanistan for five years, and thus the La Crosse area has played a part of the significant progress in Landmine removal in Afghanistan, but that task is still not completed and Afghans continue to be maimed or killed by old, hidden munitions.
