Missionaries in my childhood (none / 0) (#1)

Growing up in a suburban world, it was a revelation when Lutheran missionaries from the Cameroon came to visit our Sunday School classes.  I remember a slide show of a place so remote from my reality, and it planted the seeds of my feeling I had a role in the world to help others.  I didn't end up in the Peace Corp, but it was a formative moment for me that they visited and exposed me to possibilities previously unimaginable.

This recommends the idea of people who have these life experiences to share them with young people who they have in their orbit.
